We still remember when Pat Sajak and Vanna White visited Boston back in 1993.

At the time, WHDH-TV partnered with ‘Wheel’ for two weeks of shows at The Wang Theatre. It was actually a six-month campaign from kick-off announcement to ticket giveaways, local contestant search, promos, a Black-Tie Gala for 500 VIPs on Opening Night, and more. It became one of the biggest events the station ever mounted.

Pat and Vanna were recently back in town to tape local inserts for Boston shows to air later in the season. They were hosted for dinner at Top of the Hub on the 52nd floor of The Prudential Tower. [See accompanying photo.]

We are told that they also taped on the Skywalk Observatory, owned and operated by Top of the Hub, on the 50th floor of the Pru, and that incredibly, some of the producers were the same folks from ’93.

Executive Chef Stefan Jarausch prepared Seafood Cioppino, featuring jumbo shrimp, mussels, clams, chorizo, potatoes, garlic crostini and tomato saffron broth for Pat. Vanna enjoyed a Niman Ranch Pork Chop with smoked bacon brussel sprouts, braised yam, roasted local apples and pickled cranberries. Yum, yum, for sure!

The production crew spent several days in Boston taping at various historic sites and tourism locations. Top of the Hub and The Skywalk Observatory were their final stops before heading back to Los Angeles.

“Wheel of Fortune” is seen locally on WBZ-TV. Top of the Hub has been serving Boston’s dining community for more than 50 years. For more information about them, visit www.topofthehub.net.
