“Party in the Park” Breaks Record Fundraising

The 10th anniversary of the Emerald Necklace Conservancy (ENC) is being hailed a complete success after record attendance and fundraising. On May 18th, 2013 over 800 people gathered under a mammoth tent at the Kelleher Rose Garden in the Back Bay Fens, to raise funds for the parks of the Emerald Necklace Conservancy.

The lunch raised $ 1.35 million dollars, breaking records in the city. Mayor Tom Menino and first lady Angela, were presented the Justine Liff Spirit Award for their commitment to the city and the park areas. The award is named after beloved Parks Commissioner the late Justine Liff. A tree will also be dedicated to the Mayor and to the victims of the April 15 Boston Marathon bombing victims and survivors.

The crowd, mostly women, dawned hats and “fascinators” that made the event as much about fashion as fundraising. Co-chair Lynn Dale said she is very proud of this event each year and enjoys the stylish feast for the eyes. “It is a one of a kind fashion event with some of the most stylish, powerful, and charitable women in this city.” Dale and the other organizers hope to keep the momentum and success moving forward for the next 10 years. “We have big plans for the future, and we know our supporters will come through as we move into the next decade of Party in the Park.
