The Celebrity Series of Boston has announced its 2017-2018 Season, marking 79 years of bringing the world’s greatest performing artists to Boston and the Greater Boston Area.
The Season officially opens on Friday, October 6, 2017 with Broadway and film star Alan Cumming in a rare, cabaret vocal appearance at the Sanders Theatre.
The noted actor, singer, author and activist will make his Celebrity Series debut with his latest vocal stage show.
An iconic multi-genre performer, Cumming played Eli Gold on CBS’s “The Good Wife,” stole the show as the Tony Award-winning Emcee in “Cabaret,” and currently hosts PBS’s “Masterpiece Mystery.”
In total, the 2017-2018 season, which is sponsored by Amy and Joshua Boger, will include 49 music, dance, and entertainment engagements.
To name but a few, some of the highlights include:
~ The Eddie Palmieri Latin Jazz Orchestra on November 4, 2017 at the Berklee Performance Center.
~ Emanuel Ax, Leonidas Kavakos and Yo-Yo Ma performing the piano trios of Brahms on February 21, 2018 at Symphony Hall.
~ The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s 50th Anniversary of their first performance with Celebrity Series, on March 22-25, 2018 at the Boch Center Wang Theatre.
~ The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis on June 10, 2018 at Symphony Hall with “Pops-style” seating.
