2018 Massachusetts Master Gardening Symposium

The Massachusetts Master Gardener Association (MMGA) has announced its third annual Massachusetts Gardening Symposium, a day-long educational event scheduled for Saturday, September 29, 2018. Themed "Inspiration for Next Year's Garden," the program emphasizes thought-starters for 2019 garden design, plant selection, and improved garden performance. Gardeners at all levels of experience are welcome.

The Symposium's agenda features presentations by four nationally recognized horticultural experts:

~ Joseph Tychonievich (plantsman and the author of Plant Breeding for the Home Gardener and Rock Gardening: Reimagining a Classic Style) will be focusing on the basic principles of creating rock gardens as well as an introduction to rock garden plants.

~ Peter J. Hatch (Director of Gardens and Grounds Emeritus for the Thomas Jefferson Foundation) will recount the botanical history of Jefferson's Virginia estate, Monticello.

~ Kelly D. Norris (award-winning author, plantsman and Director of Horticulture and Education at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden) will highlight stylish plant alternatives.

~ Jessica Walliser (organic farmer and author of the acclaimed book Good Bug, Bad Bug) will teach attendees how to attract beneficial bugs to their gardens.

The Massachusetts Gardening Symposium will be held at Westford Academy in Westford, MA, 8:30 AM  3:30 PM, on Saturday, September 29th.
