More than 1100 people attended the opening of "The 2010 DeCordova Biennial" of New England artists at the DeCordova Sculpture Park + Museum in Lincoln.

The Biennial is a survey exhibition, focused on the quality and variety of work rather than any single theme. The exhibition highlights artists from across New England who work in a range of media, including innovative performance pieces, video installations, sculpture, painting, and photography.

The exhibition, which runs through April 11, offers a number of firsts: The first time an exhibition has taken over the whole museum; the first time the exhibition, a descendant of the 20-year history of DeCordova Annual exhibitions, has been curated by a single curator, Dina Deitsch; the most artists, seventeen, ever curated into an exhibition in the series; and the first time an artist will live in the Museum, to name a few.

DeCordova is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on selected Monday holidays. The Sculpture Park is open year-round during daylight hours. Guided public tours of the Museum's main galleries take place every Thursday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tours of the Sculpture Park are given on Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. from May to November. All guided public tours are free with Campus admission. Visit www.decordova.org or call 781-259-8355 for further information.

Spanish Winesday at MFA on March 31

We are invited to enjoy a "Spanish Winesday" on March 31 at Bravo Restaurant in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where we will savor lush fruits and vegetables, loaves of crusty bread, savory cheeses, and other cuisine of sunny Spain featured in the exhibition "Luis Meléndez: Master of the Spanish Still Life."

Both Bravo and its contemporary café, the Galleria, are featuring fresh seasonal food reminiscent of Meléndez's vibrant compositions, including fruit plates, roasted game hen, and roasted root vegetables.

Bravo hosts a "Winesday" on the last Wednesday evening of each month, featuring an expert-led discussion on wine followed by a wine tasting with hors d'oeuvres or tapas that complement the highlighted beverage. The March 31 Winesday will feature Spanish white wines and small plates inspired by the exhibition from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. No reservations are necessary. For more information, call 617-369-3474.
