The Christofle boutique at Heritage On the Garden on Boylston Street, recently hosted a festive reception in honor of their Master Silversmith, Jean-Claude Bourbon.

Monsieur Bourbon is the Director of Christofle's Haute Couture Workshop, located in Normandy, France, which creates all of the company's exquisite limited-edition works and one-of-a-kind custom pieces commissioned by royalty, celebrities and private individuals alike.

Several vintage and signature pieces from the workshop were on display at the reception that gathered more than 75 guests. Monsieur Bourbon gave a demonstration of his craft while graciously answering guests' questions.

Everyone enjoyed flutes of Perrier Jouet bubbly and on departing, all received handmade gifts from Christofle's Couture workshop. A super soiree, to be sure!

Since 1842, Christofle has upheld its position as the foremost leader in the art of silver. With locations in more than 70 countries, Christofle offers home decor, accessories and jewelry. For more information, visit www.christofle.com.

Seiji Ozawa Tanglewood Appearances Cancelled

We have been informed that Seiji Ozawa is withdrawing from his 2010 Tanglewood appearances this summer due to additional recuperative time needed after recent surgery and treatment for esophageal cancer.

Mr. Ozawa said his recovery is going well but that he needed to cancel more engagements than originally planned so that he could fully concentrate on continuing treatment. Seiji Ozawa, BSO Music Director Laureate, was to have led the BSO in an all-Brahms program on July 24 and the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra on July 25.

"I'm really sorry for troubling and worrying everyone," Mr. Ozawa said in a statement issued from his office. "I myself feel great regret but I want to take all possible measures to recover well by listening to my chief doctor's instructions." "Though it's disappointing that Seiji won't be with us this summer at Tanglewood, we are comforted to know that he is taking every precaution to ensure the best possible recovery from his recent surgery, said BSO Managing Director Mark Volpe. "Our thoughts are with him as we wish him the very best and eagerly anticipate his return to conducting later in the year."

In January, Mr. Ozawa was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and canceled his rehearsal and performance schedule for at least six months to undergo treatment. The Tanglewood dates follow a recently announced series of additional cancellations that now extend through the month of August, including an opera in Matsumoto, Japan and a series of concerts with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in Europe and Japan.

Mr. Ozawa plans to return to conducting in September when he will lead the Saito Kinen Festival Orchestra in concerts in Matsumoto, Japan. Mr. Ozawa, Music Director of the Saito Kinen Festival Orchestra, is also scheduled to bring that ensemble to New York for performances in Carnegie Hall in December to participate in a two-part citywide festival, "JapanNYC," with Mr. Ozawa serving as Artistic Director.

"JapanNYC" will explore the incredible diversity of Japan's arts and culture with more than 40 events at Carnegie Hall and New York partner institutions in December 2010 and spring 2011.
