"The 2010 Boston Flower & Garden Show" is but a happy memory now, and congratulations are in order to Show Director Carolyn Weston and the Needham based Paragon Group as they begin "a new tradition for New England." After a year without a major flower show in Boston, everyone was more than ready to enjoy "A Feast for the Senses."

Especially exciting was the participation of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society and its tireless volunteers, under the direction of Chair Neal Sanders, in producing the Show's "floral-design and amateur competitions" as well as various exhibitions.

Even more exciting is the fact that the Show will be back bigger and better next year! So, be sure to save the dates: March 16-20, 2011 at the Seaport World Trade Center.

If you didn't get to enjoy this year's show in person, or if you would like to "re-visit," take a look at BostonGardens.com on Facebook where we posted more than 100 images or BostonGardens.com on YouTube for short videos. I have to admit that I can't help looking at them over and over again.

It doesn't seem possible that since 1973, except for one year when I was ill, I've been involved in one way or another with every New England Spring Flower Show. And even that year, my hubby drove me in to preview the show. Traditions for sure!

ICA to Exhibit Work of World-Renowned Tattooist

The Institute of Contemporary Art presents the first U.S. solo exhibition of Dr. Lakra, a Mexico-based artist and world-renowned tattooist.

The work combines a diverse range of patterns and symbols-such as Chicano, Maori, Thai and ancient Aztec imagery-creating "a tantalizing mix of life, death and desire."

On view from April 14 to Sept. 6, Dr. Lakra presents more than 60 works, including a new drawing that will cover an entire wall.

Born in Mexico in 1972, Jerónimo López Ramírez signs his work as Dr. Lakra, which loosely translates as "Dr. Delinquent." He is the son of the Mexican-born painter, Francisco Toledo.

The ICA is located at 100 Northern Avenue, Boston. For more information, including exhibition-related programs, call 617-478-3100 or visit www.icaboston.org.

Enjoy!
