On September 16, the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame sponsored a "Gala Awards Ceremony and Luncheon" hosted by WBZ 1030's Jordan Rich at the Dedham Hilton Hotel.

Twenty of Massachusetts' most popular and respected radio and television broadcasters were inducted into the prestigious organization.

Among this year's honorees were: "The Voice of Boston Bruins Hockey," the late Fred Cusick, who sadly passed away the day before the ceremonies; the nation's first nightly news cultural reporter and women's movement trailblazer Sonya Hamlin; veteran television news journalist John Henning; legendary rock radio deejay Charles Laquidara, who traveled to Boston from his home in Hawaii; public affairs director, news director and host Don Latulippe; 48-year WBZ personality Dave Maynard; host, newswoman and executive editor of WGBH-TV's "Greater Boston," Emily Rooney; and the radio voice of the New England Patriots and morning sports anchor on WBZ radio, Gil Santos - to name a few.

Congratulations and Best Wishes to all! For information about the Broadcasters Hall of Fame, visit www.massbroadcastershof.org.

Linda Eder Performing at the Berklee Performance Center

"An Evening With Linda Eder" is scheduled for Saturday, November 28 at 8 p.m. at the Berklee Performance Center (BPC), 136 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston.

In the upcoming concert, Linda will feature songs from her new CD "Soundtrack," which will showcase Academy Award-winning songs from the movies. Linda continues to be a favorite of Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops. Her most recent appearance with them was this past June.

Her earliest vocal influence was the great Judy Garland. "I knew I wanted to be a singer by the age of eight." At age ten she was introduced to the classical work of soprano Eileen Farrell. As a young teenager she became influenced by Barbra Streisand.

Her first big break came in 1987 with an audition for "Star Search." She won a spot on the first episode of that season. With her only goal to win at least one show, Linda proved unbeatable for an unprecedented 12-week run.

Her success on "Star Search" expanded her fan base nationally and led to a leading role as Lucy Harris in the 1990 Broadway-bound musical "Jekyll & Hyde," a role she played for over 900 performances all across the United States before finally arriving on the "Great White Way" in 1996 at the Plymouth theater in Manhattan. She starred on Broadway for 16 months, winning a Drama Desk Award and building her audience. She has recorded five separate cast and pre-cast Broadway albums and appeared on several more Broadway compilation albums.

Among her many career milestones, Linda's concerts have been televised on Bravo and PBS. She created and hosted a prime-time television special "Trail Mix" for Animal Planet and has been profiled by the Bravo Network. She has appeared on televised concerts of The Songwriter's Hall of Fame, and Julie Andrew's "Leading Ladies of Broadway."

She found strong supporters in television celebrity hosts and has appeared several times on "Late Night with David Letterman," "Regis & Kathy Lee" and "Rosie." Her powerful rendition of the track "Gold" was part of the opening ceremonies at the 2002 Winter Olympics.

The Berklee Performance Center is wheelchair accessible. Tickets are available at the BPC box office, at www.ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster outlets or by calling 800-745-3000. For more information, call 617-747-2261, visit www.berklee.edu/events/ or www.lindaeder.com.

Enjoy!
