(Photo courtesy of Maribella Buccella)Congratulations are in order to Vincent's Nightclub in Randolph, which recently celebrated its 23rd Anniversary. The Lombardo family annually hosts three different charities at the festive gala. They generously donate 100% of the food, beverages and entertainment, and the guests make out their donation checks directly to one of the three charities of their choice. This year's recipients were Interfaith Social Services, Inc. of the South Shore, the Randolph Youth Ministry Program, and The Salesian Boys & Girls Club of East Boston. Representatives from all three non-profits were honored guests. The special evening began with Lombardo's famous buffet in Lombardo's Grand Ballroom. After dinner, guests returned to Vincent's Nightclub on the ground level of the building, where they were entertained by Souled Out, a musical ensemble that specializes in Motown and Soul sounds. Featuring a three-piece vocal section, the group wove its way through the Motown and 70's soul eras with authentic choreographed dance routines and outstanding musicianship. After the show and dancing, guests enjoyed Lombardo's fabulous "Sweet Table" with coffee and cordials. A grand time was enjoyed by all. Tango Festival Scheduled The Tango Society of Boston presents "The Sixth Annual Boston Tango Festival" from June 17 through June 21. Events will be held at the Tango Society's own venue in Somerville and at the Boston-Brookline Holiday Inn, where there will be four rooms for classes and two ballrooms for dancing. For the past four years during the month of June, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has designated a "Tango Day in Boston," not only to honor the dance, but also the culture. Founded in June of 1997 as a non-profit volunteer-run organization dedicated to the support and growth of Argentine tango in the Boston area, The Boston Tango society brings the best of authentic Argentine tango, including some of the best teachers from Broadway and the world. For the past 12 years, they have acquired more than 4000 members and are considered the largest such organization in the U.S.A., and one of the most active. Members include people from all walks of life, with more than 20 countries represented. The Tango Society of Boston has co-produced events with the Museum of Fine Arts, WGBH Public Television and the Boston Public Library, to name a few. For the past four years they have participated in "First Night Boston" and were honored to be part of the first "Dance Across the City" event in January 2004. They have been featured in most of Greater Boston's newspapers, on Channel 5's "Chronicle" and other television programs.
