Evelyn Y. Davis and the Evelyn Y. Davis Foundation have pledged a gift of $100,000 to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA). MFA Director Malcolm Rogers made the announcement on March 17. A resident of Washington, D.C., Davis holds shares in some 80 corporations in different industries and has been a strong advocate for shareholders’ rights since she began attending corporate annual meetings in 1960. In 1965, she started Highlights and Lowlights, a newsletter covering corporate governance, executive compensation, shareholder vote reports, and a variety of business-related issues. Davis has lectured widely around the country on corporate governance and is focused on persuading corporate boards to be more accountable to shareholders. She is a frequent guest on many television networks, such as CNBC and FOX Television, and has been featured in newspapers and magazines. She studied business administration at George Washington University. Founded in 1989, the Evelyn Y. Davis Foundation makes grants to prominent national institutions. A plaque has been installed in perpetuity, on the second floor of the Museum’s West Wing, outside of the restaurant Bravo, in recognition of this gift.
