TomorrowNite has raised more than $5-million over the past 17 years, and to celebrate the feat, Dwight Tosh, the 17th patient to walk through the doors of St. Jude, was on hand.

The event was sponsored by Chuck and Anne Hajjar, Tudor Investment Corporation and GLS Capital Management, with support from Kensico Capital Management Corp. and John Hancock Financial Services, among others.

Denise Hajjar Will Present “Spring / Summer Collection”

Fashion designer Denise Hajjar presents her “Spring / Summer 2008 Collection” on Monday, March 31, in The Oak Room and Oak Bar of The Fairmont Copley Plaza from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

"I am very excited to be presenting my signature combination of exotic floral prints, subtle abstract patterns, and beautifully textured solid fabrics for both day and eveningwear. Strong pastels, clear crisp black and whites, and vibrant jewel tone pieces, will add to the fresh and modern look of my collection,” says Denise. She adds, “This season it is all about looking pretty and feeling feminine.”

In addition to the regular menu, the Oak Room will offer a three-course, prix-fixe dinner. The menu will include a first course of escargot Rockefeller with baguette crostini, followed by beef tenderloin with spring onion mashed potatoes and asparagus. Dinner concludes with a lemon mouse tart with kiwi coulis and sweet cream.

In the Oak Bar, the complete cocktail and Oak Room menu will be available. As there is no cover charge for this event and seating is limited, reservations are strongly recommended.

“Sheepshearing Festival” Scheduled at Gore Place

Gore Place, the historic Governor Gore estate in Waltham, Massachusetts, will present the 21st “Annual Sheepshearing Festival” on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (rain or shine). The event will take place over several acres of the 45-acre estate.

Major attractions are the Sheepshearing tent, the herding dog demonstration and the crafts fair. In the shearing tent, shearers demonstrate both modern and traditional shearing techniques. Talented herding dogs give demonstrations of how a shepherd and his dog control and move a flock of sheep. The crafts fair offers handcrafted goods for sale by some of the regions finest crafters.

Other events include: live music by local bands, country dancing, an historic military encampment, traditional crafts, spinners, weavers and more.

For an additional fee, visitors may take a ground-floor tour of the mansion and enjoy a tractor-pulled wagon ride. Food vendors will be on site. Parking is free. No dogs allowed.

The Sheepshearing Festival began in 1987 when a small group of local school children were invited to see the museum’s director shear the flock of sheep kept at the Gore farm. The sheep are part of the educational component of the 45-acre estate. Today, the Sheepshearing festival draws thousands of people from throughout the region.

Gore Place is the early 1800s estate of Massachusetts Governor Christopher Gore. The estate includes a small farm with sheep, goats and poultry. The elegantly furnished mansion has been called the "Monticello of the North" and architectural historians consider it to be the most significant Federal period mansion in New England.

Gore Place is located at 52 Gore Street, just off Route 20 (Main Street) near the Waltham/Watertown line. For admission costs and more information, call: 781-894-2798 or visit the museum's Web site at: www.goreplace.org.

Enjoy!
