On Saturday evening, June 14, the Museum Council of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston (MFA), a vibrant group of young professionals, hosts the fifth annual "Summer Party," a dazzling evening at the MFA featuring luscious cocktails, hearty hors d'oeuvres, desserts, music by popular D.J. Deja, dancing, and a silent auction including works by local artists. The festivities take place from 8 p.m. to midnight. The theme of this year's event is a Latin American "Feria de Arte," inspired by pieces from the MFA's collection and the new Art of the Americas Wing. This will be a great opportunity to enjoy an elegant evening, while mingling with Boston's "hottest" crowd at what is called by some, "the black tie event of the season." The MFA's Museum Council is made up of philanthropic professionals, aged 21-45, with the mission of bringing together art enthusiasts from diverse professions and backgrounds, in support of the Museum of Fine Arts. Council members are offered unique avenues to further their understanding and enjoyment of the museum. All proceeds from this event support the Council's gift to the current campaign, "Building the New MFA." For tickets or more information, call 617-369-3268 or email MuseumCouncil@mfa.org.

Graziella Vigo Photo Exhibit at Jordan Hall The New England Conservatory (NEC), in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Boston, is hosting "Verdi on Stage," a monographic exhibit of works by the noted fashion, portrait, and performance photographer Graziella Vigo. The exhibit, which opened on June 1st, will be on display in the inner ring of NEC's Jordan Hall through June 30, and comprises a selection of the artist's photographs taken from Verdi productions in many of the world's finest opera houses. With her camera and vigilant eye, Graziella Vigo has realized a unique experience. Starting in 2001, the centennial of Verdi's death, she took thousands of photographs during live performances of Verdi operas at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro Regio di Parma, Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Busseto and the NHK in Tokyo. From this tremendous cache she created a book, which is being promoted in the United States through this touring exhibit. Macbeth, Rigoletto, Il Trovatore, La Traviata, Un Ballo in Maschera, Otello, Falstaff and Zeffirelli's Aida were the subjects of Vigo's camera lens, and the photos capture details that many in the audience might have missed. They will delight the discerning eye of opera and photographic buffs alike. The "Verdi on Stage" exhibit includes 110 large format photos printed on special canvas. The exhibit has previously been on display at the New York Public Library for The Performing Arts at Lincoln Center and at the Italian Embassy in Washington, D.C. The exhibit is free and open to the public except when ticketed concerts are taking place in the hall or recording sessions are scheduled. Jordan Hall is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday during June. Be sure to call 617-585-1271in advance to confirm availability for viewing. NEC's Jordan Hall is located at 30 Gainsborough St., corner of Huntington Ave. in Boston. It is handicapped accessible.
