Boston Ballet kicked off its annual spring fundraising "Dream Ball" gala with a cocktail reception held at the Cartier Boutique on Newbury Street. At the intimate gathering of Ballet trustees, overseers and friends it was announced that the gala benefit, which will be held tomorrow evening, April 12, in the Cyclorama, will honor philanthropists Ted Cutler, Founder and President of GWV International and longtime Boston Ballet trustee, and his wife Joan. "The Dream Ball" chairs are Ballet Trustee Nina Fialkow and her husband David. Congratulations and Best Wishes to all!
Friends of the Libraries Schedule Annual Meeting at BU The President and Board of Directors of the Friends of the Libraries of Boston University announce that their annual meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, April 22 will feature the distinguished poet and music critic Lloyd Schwartz, who will speak on his career and recent book on the poet Elizabeth Bishop. A reception at 5:30 p.m. will precede the meeting, which is traditionally followed by another get-together for members, guests and non-members. MFA's "Art in Bloom" Gala Preview Party on April 26 Magnificent floral interpretations of great works of art will be on view throughout the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), during the 32nd annual "Art in Bloom" festival of flowers and fine art, being held from Saturday, April 26 through Tuesday, April 29. Colorful arrangements, uniquely styled to reflect the spirit of the Museum's works of art, will transform the MFA's galleries and public spaces into spectacular springtime oases. "Art in Bloom" kicks off Saturday, April 26, with a Family Day, followed by an elegant evening Opening Celebration Preview Party beginning at 7 p.m. Lively programs (hands-on demonstrations, lectures, master classes, and free guided tours), will take place from Sunday, April 27, through Tuesday, April 29. During "Art in Bloom," the MFA is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. On Monday, April 28, the Museum will host a special evening "Open House" from 5 to 9 p.m., when admission will be free of charge.
