A striking and most appropriate table arrangement at the Lidia Bastianich presentation/book signing includes not only flowers and copies of Lidia’s new book, but also several different types of pasta, a mesh bag full of fresh garlic cloves, and jars of peppers and beans preserved in olive oil. Hubby and I were among the hundreds of people who lined up early at the World Trade Center to see and hear PBS Chef Lidia Bastianich’s cooking demonstration during the recent “WGBH Wine and Food Festival.”
The noted TV personality, restaurateur and Italian cookbook author was in Boston to promote her latest book, “Lidia’s Italy: 140 Simple and Delicious Recipes from the Ten Places in Italy Lidia Loves Most,” which she wrote with her daughter Tanya Bastianich Manuali.
The book happens to be the basis for the new PBS show, “Lidia’s Italy,” which debuts this coming Saturday, May 5 at 1:30 p.m. on WGBH-TV, Channel 2.
We really enjoyed our delightful afternoon with Lidia and Tanya as they cooked, told stories, showed preview clips from the new show (which was mostly filmed in Italy), and answered questions from the audience.
Best of all, we got to taste three of the yummy recipes and everyone went home with a copy of the book, which the mother and daughter duo graciously offered to sign. Grazie!
