Earlier this season, Vincent Club members and their guests dined and danced at Boston’s Four Seasons Hotel for a very good cause.
The Club’s annual “Gardenia Gala” drew hundreds of attendees in support of the Vincent Memorial Hospital, the women’s care division of Massachusetts General Hospital. Guests were invited to participate in a silent auction and Tiffany & Co. generously donated three special treasures. Other sponsors included Fidelity Investments.
Each year, through a variety of events, The Vincent Club raises thousands of dollars to support groundbreaking research in the clinical care, treatment and well being of women, literally changing the face of women’s health care around the globe.
“The Gala is more than a fundraiser,” said Lawson P. Allen, president of The Vincent Club. “It’s a festive evening that brings our members together to celebrate how far we have come in the field of women’s health.”
Congratulations and Best Wishes all around!

Calling all artists! The Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain invites artists of all ages to submit their T-shirt designs for “Lilac Sunday 2008.” Lilac-themed T-shirts have been a tradition at Lilac Sunday for many years and next year will be no exception.
In fact, in 2008, the Arboretum will celebrate the 100th anniversary of this beloved tradition, which is quite the social event.
Submission Guidelines: Designs must be original artwork for the front of a T-shirt. Final T-shirt will be 2-color. Competition is open to all ages. Each artist may submit up to three designs.
Deadline for submissions is October 30, 2007.
Submissions will be evaluated based on how well they reflect the spirit, history, and beauty of Lilac Sunday at the Arnold Arboretum. Arnold Arboretum staff will judge the competition. The winner will be selected by January 2008. Finalists’ designs will be displayed in the Arboretum’s Hunnewell Building during January 2008 and again on Lilac Sunday May 2008.
The winning artwork will be printed on Lilac Sunday 2008 T-shirts, along with the artist’s name. The lucky winner will receive a one-year membership to the Friends of the Arnold Arboretum and ten free 2008 Lilac Sunday T-shirts. BSO Performances Online
The Boston Symphony Orchestra will launch its first Internet television program – an online broadcast of the Boston Pops’ “Oscar and Tony” program – this coming August, with future programs to feature the BSO (Fall 2007), and a series of Tanglewood Music Center master classes (2008) filmed this summer during the 2007 Tanglewood Season.
The initial Boston Pops Internet television program will be offered free of charge and showcases music from the orchestra’s upcoming CD release, “Oscar and Tony,” featuring award-winning music of Hollywood and Broadway.
The Boston Symphony Orchestra is the first orchestra to announce plans for Internet television programs, allowing the BSO to enhance its outreach to audiences in the United States and abroad with its entertaining and educational programs.
The Boston Pops’ “Oscar and Tony” online broadcast will be available at the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s newly redesigned Web site, www.bso.org, which now has the technology to accommodate Internet television viewing. The BSO’s site is the largest and most-visited orchestral website in the country, and it now receives more than 5.5 million visitors annually and has generated more than $32 million in revenue since its launch in 1996.
“We’re proud of our orchestra’s relationship with its audience,” said BSO Managing Director Mark Volpe. “However, as times, tastes, and technology change, we want to do more than adapt and survive – we want to take full advantage of online opportunities as a new means of engaging our audience. We’re excited about these new avenues for interacting with concertgoers here in Boston and beyond.” For more information, visit
www.bso.org.
BSO concerts will continue to be heard regularly on the radio. The Friday-afternoon concerts are broadcast on WGBH 89.7 FM, and the Saturday-evening concerts are broadcast on WCRB 99.5 FM. Concerts from Tanglewood can be heard on WQXR and WAMC.
Enjoy!
