We recently had the pleasure of attending a festive “Open House” at the new Natick home of our friend Mitch Bobkin. A noted interior designer, most recently with Domain Home Fashions, Mitch has “transformed” several homes for clients, and for himself, into elegant show houses.

More than one person at the party noted that the house was so spectacular it should be on TV. Well, next thing we knew, we were lucky to be present during the taping of a segment for NECN’s “New England Dream House.”

It was fun to see Beth Shelburne, the charming hostess of the popular program, along with her very professional crew “do their thing.” We were amazed to see how much work and time goes into putting such a show on the air.

The taping is scheduled to air this coming Sunday, January 28 at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. There will also be repeat airings at 3:30 p.m. on January 29, February 1, 6, 9 and 14. The segment will also be available on the NECN Web site. Ultimately, visitors to Mitch’s own Web site will be able to view it along with a previous taping at the home of Domain founder and CEO, Judy George, for whom Mitch designed a new “dream” kitchen and sunroom last year.

“Great Chefs Food & Wine Tasting” at the Marriott in Quincy

Bring your discerning palate and an appetite for fine food and wines to the “19th Annual Great Chefs Food & Wine Tasting” on Tuesday, February 6, at the Boston Marriott Quincy.

Billy Costa, host of NECN's “TV Diner,” will emcee this elegant evening that will feature samples from more than 20 of the finest restaurants and bakeries from the Greater Boston and South Shore areas, as well as wine from international vintners.

A few of the featured participating establishments include Bia Bistro, Bistro 712, Bon Caldo, Fox and Hound Grill and Tavern, Hancock’s Restaurant, Konditor Meister, PURE Chocolate, The Square Café, Tullio’s Restaurant and Grotto, and Veronica’s Sweetcakes.

With Valentine's Day just a week after the event, the evening's "Have a Heart" theme ensures the perfect atmosphere to help raise awareness for Partners Home Care's cardiac programs.

The event will also feature live and silent auctions, providing guests with an excellent opportunity to do some last-minute shopping for their sweetheart. Featured items include a ride in the Goodyear Blimp and the opportunity to be "Diner for a Day" and appear on “TV Diner” with Billy Costa.

Proceeds support the non-profit mission of Partners Home Care to provide high-quality health care, health education and supportive services in the home or community setting to children and adults in eastern Massachusetts, including those who might not otherwise receive that care.
