Aretha Franklin & Her Orchestra - South Shore Music Circus
Sunday, August 01, 2010 Aretha Franklin is the undisputed Queen of Soul and the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She is a singer of great passion and remains one of the preeminent vocalists of the age. Borrowing from jazz, soul, R&B, rock, pop, and, of course, gospel, she sings with such graceful abandon that she is recognized as one of the handful of inventors of hard-core soul. It was the run of late-60s hits including "Chain of Fools", "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," and "I Say A Little Prayer" that made her a star. Her version of Otis Redding's "Respect" knocked cold even his amazing original. Aretha was discovered all over again by a new generation in the 80's thanks to her role and performance of "Think" in the hit movie musical The Blues Brothers. comes from the Delta. She is quite possibly the greatest singer of our time.
