Wednesday Evenings at Elm Bank - Series of Gardening Talks
Wednesday, July 21, 2010 - Wednesday, August 25, 2010 This July and August, plan to spend your Wednesday evenings at Elm Bank, the home of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society in Wellesley. We've lined up seven great speakers on topics of interest to the home gardener. Each session begins at 6:30 p.m. and concludes at 8 p.m. or when the last question has been answered. Sessions are $8 for members, $10 for non-members. Please bring cash or check for payment the evening of the event. Refreshments are served. On Wednesday, July 21, Betty Sanders talks on Healthy Lawns - and Alternatives. Betty is a well-respected gardening lecturer to groups around the region and the author of the Horticultural Hints column in the monthly Leaflet. She believes that homeowners are caught in a web of conflicting and frequently overstated claims about the virtues of four-step processes and organic lawns. As a chemist and Master Gardener, she's well positioned to sort out hype from truth. She'll describe how homeowners can have healthy lawns with a minimum of chemicals, and why alternatives to a lawn may be a better choice for the homeowner. The topics of other Wednesday evening lectures may be found on our website, www.masshort.org.
