Newton Community Chorus Concert - Features Haydn and Schubert Masses

Saturday, January 26, 2019

Haydn's Mass in B-Flat Major and Schubert Mass No. 5 in A-Flat Major, with Orchestra and Outstanding Soloists.

The Newton Community Chorus, now in its 38th season, performs its annual Winter concert.

The chorus will perform Haydn's Mass in B-Flat Major, and Schubert's Mass. No. 5 in A-Flat Major, with noted soloists: Deborah Selig, soprano; Rebecca Krouner, mezzo-soprano; Gregory Zavracky, tenor; and Jorgeandres Carmago, bass. The orchestra and chorus are led by NCC music director, Richard Travers.

The Newton Community Chorus has been a regional musical institution, growing from a small group for parents and teachers of students at the Underwood School in Newton Corner in 1981, performing show tunes and folk songs, to a large-scale chorus that presented major choral works with orchestra and professional soloists.

Its volunteer members are dedicated to an ongoing commitment to professionalism and high-quality live performance. The chorus welcomes singers to audition for its Spring season with auditions on February 5th and 12th.
