Looking West From the East - Mass Historical Society - Free Lecture

Friday, October 20, 2017

Chiang Yee, an artist, poet, lecturer, and writer, is best known for his Silent Traveler books, which offered a Chinese perspective of London, Paris, New York, San Francisco, and Boston. A bestselling author in his day, Chiang was also good friends with Walt Whitehill, historian, author, and librarian of the Boston Athenaeum, whose papers are at MHS.

Da Zheng (Suffolk University) will give a biographical sketch that offers a unique perspective on America and immigrant experience as well as a glimpse into the life of the Silent Traveler through one of his closest friendships.
